There are seven runes in the game, each with a different ability. To get a rune, you will need to go to a specific location and fight the Elite enemy that spawns when you approach the special obelisk in the area, or by fighting a boss. These upgrades give you new abilities that let you access areas you otherwise couldn’t reach. Runes are permanent upgrades attached to your save file.
